Coo IV

Pretty thrilled that this big guy sold on Saatchi. I had almost resigned myself to never getting a sale on Saatchi, due to the serious amount of art on there (I think the term "saturated" is frequently banded about?). Even more thrilled that he will be making his way to Denver, Colorado. The Coos seem to always get a bit of attention, so it's time to get busy and start a new one. 

I also finished Bo some weeks ago and his owner took delivery of the painting. It was particularly poignant, as poor Bo was put to sleep a few days after I completed the painting due to illness. Cracking pooch that I was honoured to paint. 

 In coming weeks I'm going to be working on some oil paintings. Figurative stuff. Portraits and the like. Quite looking forward to getting messy 😊

She has arrived, after weeks of waiting on drying times, and building up layers.. "Jarka I" is here. I'm very pleased with the result after quite a few rocky moments. I plan to work on several more portraits of my muse, including some new nudes. Presently researching portrait competitions to enter this piece into. Who knows, luck may be on my side?

Fini

So here he is, "Equine I ". Taken a considerable amount of time, but such is working with oils. Started on a new canvas, similar subject...as in...a horse, but with a lot more texture play involved. Looking for a new gallery too, as my time at ART5 has now come to an end. Change is good. Hopefully, over coming weeks, I will have a few more works to add to my folio..and aim for a solo exhibition. Fingers crossed :)

Tricky Oils....

I have been pottering away on this for the past few weeks. Probably a few more hours work before I will be happy enough to say it is complete. I'm pretty chuffed with the result so far, and I seem to be getting more to grips with oils. I have been using water based as it is easier to keep myself and my flat cleaner...and thank goodness for my trusty apron! 

I have had a fantastic image in my head for the next canvas, which will be pretty darn big...and I will take the plunge and use 'proper' oils, chemicals...the whole shebang. I'm ready for it! I will continue painting nudes for the a while ...my 'muse' might not be so aware of that yet though.

This will soon be for sale on the website along with the others I have added, 3 of which are available at Art5 Gallery, Brighton.

All New..

It has been quite some time since my last post, but since December I have actually pottered away and produced some new work. The above painting ' Nude III ', is now in Art5 Gallery in Brighton along with ' Nude II ', ' Emerge ' and 'G'. Two more paintings will be joining soon ( E and Gorilla ). After a little lull, I have begun working on a new oil painting.....

Early days, but this is the basis before I build up 'blocks' and more texture. Personally I think this will be a winner, and stepping stone to the next piece I have in mind...which will be around the size of myself :) . Sticking with the oils as they are just ideal for what I have in mind. I think it will be a full departure from what I have been doing...

Nude 1

Pretty happy to have finished this and with the result. My first play with oils. It has been a quite a learning curve, and I can't wait to get started on new work asap. In other news, tomorrow I take my painting to a new gallery. Exciting times...

and start over...

So, after weeks..no..months of telling my little head to do it, I have taken the plunge into the world of oils. What a fantastically challenging world it is...so far. Such a learning curve. And beautifully messy. For the past few days I have been working on this figurative piece. The forthcoming months will be all about figurative work ( nudes), and discovering new techniques with oils. Quite a jump away from acrylics and animals. If I can progress and portray what I have in my head...there will be some great canvases produced. Beautiful...

Long time

It's been a while. Quite some time. I have been working on & off on this osprey. I'm finding it incredibly frustrating, and really can't decide if I want to keep going...or paint over?

I recently submitted work to a competition, in the hope that I wil get an exhibition in London. All fingers and toes are crossed.

This and that...

It has been a funny old week ( or so..). I started on a small painting of a fox, but this only resulted in me having a wobble and almost unable to understand my paint, brushes..putting any image together. I decided to take a stepback and ditch painting anything for a few days. During this time, I put myself on Saatchi art. Fingers, toes & curlies all crossed that this will give me some form of exposure. ' Z ' also sold, and this evening trotted off to his new home in London Town where from what I am told, he will be deeply loved.

and so,

Today, I got back on the painting wagon..and any uncertainties seem to have evaporated. My mojo was fairly happy and confident again. For sometime I have not been terribly happy with a gorilla painting I completed at the end of last year. At several points I have thought about painting over it...but today I got stuck in and completely reworked him. Very pleased with the textures I got down, and the big fella has a lot more strength. He is in the shop...and will be put on Saatchi too.

Following on from that I got stuck into a new canvas, and this ( in theory..in my peanut head ) will be an Osprey. The aim is to have him look as though flying down from the corner of the canvas. Quite a challenge in that birds aren't often something I would paint..but I fancy the challenge and if the painting comes together it will be striking.

I'm quite looking forward to tomorrow.

Also in the pipeline are another cow and somemore nudes. Time to keep the creative process flowing..

From one to another...

So, I finished the nude painting a few days ago. 'Emerge' is now in the Nudes gallery ( all alone at present ) and in the shop. I'm quite pleased with the result, and its pretty damn close to what I had in my head all along. Next up, a triptych..

To keep myself from going a bit stagnant, I started on a smaller painting straight after finishing 'Emerge'. I am slightly obsessed with the idea of painting foxes at the moment, so...I have started one. This has spured me with the idea of doing a series of paintings of British Wildlife ( well, I have done the Africa series ). Another project lined up. All in all, I should be busy for quite a while building my folio of work more and more. Just how I want it... 

Boobs and Paint

So, today I got started on the nude painting. Quite a challenge, as I am working in stark contrasts, trying to keep it bold and vibrant. So far I have built up something I feel will work quite well. Bold brush strokes and shades of grey, white and black. Still lots to do, and a little bit of pulling proportions together, but basically I have down what I visualized in my tiny brain. I am contemplating some flashes ( appropriate for a nude painting ;) ) of flesh colour. No doubt I will tinker with this idea tomorrow. The aim is to have it all complete tomorrow. My first nude painting in around 20 years. Disgraceful. But, here is to a new range of work. Lots more boobs and bums to come.
